I was given the opportunity to DESIGN + MANAGE the first-ever Sustainable Collection for Adidas Women’s Training to launch in conjunction with our Run For The Oceans global campaign; to fundraise for conservation programs worldwide.
I wanted this collection to have a strong visual identity and challenged our factories to come up with a sustainable dyeing process that can emulate textures of the ocean. Teaming up with Parley meant we were able to access materials that didn’t contain any virin polyester— plastic bottles are converted and spun into polyester yarn. Next, we did a lot of research into our factory’s capabilities to find ways to reduce the use of water in our dyeing processes. We navigated through the obstacles of vigorous testing and eventually landed with Pro-Dye.
The base cloth for starters is a non-dyed fabric, and this new dyeing technique uses 25% less water than conventional dye methods. The process also eradicates the use of alkali and salts, and the finished product is both colourful + vibrant. Not only is our dyeing technique overall more sustainable, but the visual irregularities as a result of this process will ensure every product in this Parley package is unique.
This was truly a collaborative effort across all 4 x functions between Design, Marketing, the Development team and our factory. I really enjoyed problem-solving together and utilising everybody’s individual strengths + knowledge to make the best product possible. Together, we were able to push past every set back to make this Bra, Tight, Tank + Tee product come to life!
I was hired by DUSKII as a FREELANCE DESIGNER to expand their SWIM + WETSUIT line. As the owner had no formal apparel design experience, she was looking for someone like myself to push her brand’s silhouettes beyond the One Piece swimsuit.
I’m grateful they trusted my vision + subsequently showcased my entire collection at Miami Swim Week. They gave me the freedom to explore and I had a lot of fun experimenting with different types of Neoprene to see how much it can be manipulated around the body to come up with more shaping and contouring. I began playing with Laser Cutting designs into 1mm-thick neoprene to create more ventilation, and it became a distinctive visual for the brand.
I also played with new silhouettes in order to bring freshness to the existing one-piece that was previously already a success for this brand. I ensured every garment was fitted across a full spectrum of bodies as the stretchiness and behaviour of neoprene can be tough to predict.
I briefed a local artist to help create our vibrant all-over prints, and we inspired each other to be bold in our colour and design choices.
INSPIRATION: Inspired by the soul-stirring beauty of the Hawaiian Islands, there is something about this land that awakens the heart, motivates the mind and inspires a feeling of being at one with the land. The Hawaiian Islands embody all that a DUSKII girl is about—adventure, magnetic charm, ravishing beauty and spirited life. From the dense lush forests to the stunning white sand beaches, a DUSKII girl is at home here.
Designed with the college athlete in mind, this Badge of Sport Collection is about creating the best-fitting Bra + Tight that enhances performance and also celebrates Adidas with Bold Branding. Layering Tees + Tanks were added to complete the collection by offering easy-to-wear silhouettes that can be worn both before, during and after Training.
The Don’t Rest Bra features a Classic Racerback pieced in with sports mesh + a Contoured Keyhole for ventilation. The internal construction features stabiliser in areas that require “non-stretch” to ensure the bust stays put during Medium Impact Training. The Modest Scoop Neck prevents upward movement of the bust and the wings secure the bust from moving laterally.
The Compression Tight was created with kinetic wrapped design to eliminate unwanted distractions and unnecessary seaming around the body.
The Kinetic Wrapped design of this tight eliminates unwanted distractions by moving with the critical areas of athletes in motion. This Mid-Level Compression provides a supportive feel for any athlete and Flatlock Stitching ensures minimal chafing between the material and skin and provides maximum stretch to otherwise fragile seams so the tight can move with the body.
As a part of our Coldweather Training offering, I was asked to DESIGN a Bra + Tight combo that is intuitively warm and can interchange between Running and Training.
Together with my Graphic designer and Material manager, I proposed a Camouflage Jacquarded Double Knit. The different definitions created within the artwork will create high-low densities throughout the fabric structure to ensure areas for both warmth + cooling are evenly dispersed around the body.
This material was applied to both the All Me Bra and High Waisted Believe This Tight. The Bra features the Jacquarded Knit on the front chest for warmth, and the back is open with strappy detailing for breathability. The tight has an added Zip Pocket @ the thigh + a Lasercut media hole detail for headphones.
I designed this collection to allow athletes to train in Coldweather conditions. This layering system includes a Training Vest, Jacket, Pant, Bra & Tight.
The Vest & Jacket features a Jacquarded Stretch Woven material filled with Primaloft for insulation and extended sleeves w/ thumbholes for the hands. I wanted these layering pieces to be intuitively warm & cozy, but also provide enough stretch around the body to allow for Mobility. The rest of the garments and pant is built using a Textured Interlock has been tested for Climawarm— a testing standard that works by trapping body heat for warm insulation against a quick drying time. This allows athletes to remain comfortable and dry during Coldweather Training, which allows for more efficient movement.
(Bra & Tight featured in separate Ultraboost Campaign page)
Inspired by Retro Sport, I designed this injection range for Duskii exclusively for Net-a-Porter and The Iconic (online retailers). Playing with bold and vibrant sports colours and a vintage tropical print, I also incorporated a pinstripe pattern to create a Retro Sport/ Resort vibe.
As one of my first Solo projects fresh out of design school, I created Neon Cactus Swimwear and sold it at the Bondi Markets to locals and travellers alike!
A WORLD DRENCHED IN COLOUR: If just thinking about a world drenched in colour, about endless summers, salty hair and sun-kissed skin, about dancing ’til dawn and frolicking in the surf is enough to breathe happiness into life, try imagining these experiences actually happening somewhere warm and beautiful.
Try picturing the confident, sporty girl running fearlessly into the waves, her swimwear splashed with bespoke prints and cheeky cut-aways, her attitude sexy, her personality quirky. She is a part of the reality shaping up the Neon Cactus SS14 campaign, introducing swim pieces created from UPF 50+ and Italian Lycra, featuring in-built corsetry, custom-made prints & bold cut-outs.
Upon working with Engineers in the Future Innovation team, I DESIGNED a Training Tee & Tank that translates data generated from the body’s sweat zones during high intensity training.
The DATA INFORMED THE GARMENT’S AESHETIC and I was able to engineer perforation specifically onto parts of the body that require moisture management; but also play with organic design lines that contour & complement the body. Signature Adidas 3 Stripes were also incorporated into the knit design.
Trying to capture the essence of the Bondi Skate Park culture; which overlooks one of the most iconic beaches in Sydney, I designed a collection of casual streetwear clothing that allows for easy layering. Featuring sports colour-blocking and a fun proportion play between the garments to create a fun layering system, the result was a cool & casual look for the Le Coq Sportif girl.
I was offered an APPAREL DESIGNER role at Le Coq Sportif to provide them with a fresh interpretation of their brand’s sporting heritage.
Paying homage to its rich history steeped in French sports culture, I dived into its historical archives and drew inspiration from their past. From their athletic vibrant tracksuits made in the 1990s, to their chic 1980s tennis outfits— I reinterpreted their past to create a modern streetwear collection that celebrates their sports heritage.
I DESIGNED this tracksuit for the college athlete as a layering outfit for them travelling to and from training/ the gym. I wanted the Hoodie + Trackpant to speak comfort and warmth so I developed a Jacquarded fleece to give it both visual interest and tactile loft.
I utilised the ADIDAS trademark “the brand with the 3 stripes” and integrated it into the jacquarded material so this outfit can be merchandised with other Adidas product that contain more overt branding.
I DESIGNED this 3 Stripes Capsule collection as it is a part of ADIDAS’s trademark and consumers resonate with its heritage.
I combined the 3 Stripes visual marker with basketball mesh— wrapping from the back of the garment to the front to ensure there is breathability built into both the tank and shorts. I also utilised a classic 3 Stripe placement to create the ALL ME Low Impact Sports Bra.
I DESIGNED this branded Athletics collection as a way to invigorate the way we use our logo. Keeping it visually simple, I played with asymmetry, colour-blocking and flipped the logo on its side so the branded logo can stand out.
I DESIGNED this set to guard against wind chill— this women's Windbreaker comes in lightweight plain weave with contrast panels for a striking silhouette. A stand-up collar with an attached hood and snug banded cuffs offer extra protection, and a curved back hem allow free-flowing movement. Vents were also designed into the CB and forearm to allow for breathability.
The Windpant was designed to be a mid-rise + regular fit to allow the wearer to layer on top of tights during a warmup or commuting to and from training.
This was the 3rd Activewear Collection I DESIGNED for Minkpink. I worked with our graphic and textile designer to create a range that utilised “placed prints” wherein the prints were designed to contour the body and not randomly-cut.
I also explored more silhouettes for layering purposes such as a Bomber Jacket made out of Fleece, and designed a Hooded Tunic that can also be worn as a sporty dress.
I wanted to inject more energy into the Adidas Sport 2 Street fleece program and DESIGNED this collection with the intent to expand it beyond its traditional Sweater + Trackpant offering. Intended to be worn as layering pieces to + from the gym with bold ADIDAS branding, I created more fashion-inspired pieces.
Working closely with our Material Developer, we developed a fleece that had a distinctive linear heather/marle visual. With a super soft hand and added elastane, I added bold silhouettes to the range— including a Romper, Culotte, Tee & Hooded Vest.
Inspired by traditional camouflage patterns, I collaborated with our print designer to create a Digi-Camo all over print that was more modern and pieced it into my design of the Franchise Alphaskin Tight.
For this Athletics Capsule, I wanter to add tactile and Technical Sports Details to lifestyle garments to take them more towards a more functional place. I developed a Soft Rib that had great elasticity + recovery and used it as a BODY fabric instead of a trim to enhance wearer movement. I designed both the Hoodie and Tank with a rubber stopper and elasticated bungee @ the back waist to create adjustability within the garment.
I DESIGNED this tight with the intent of solving the problem of breathability. As our franchise Alphaskin Tight has already gone through multiple iterations with pieced-in mesh, I wanted to reduce the use of seams by placing a laser perforation artwork instead of mesh— targeting the leg area to acheive maximum ventlation that is also aesthetically. It visually looks more elevated and impactful than pieced-in mesh and was a successful update to the solid Franchise tight.
I was hired by Minkpink to DESIGN their First Activewear Range. Drawing inspiration from Dance and Studio workouts, I created a range that modernised traditional sports colour-blocking and clashed it with bohemian and vintage prints to give it a feminine touch.
